My first impression about the chest was positive. It was certainly inexpensive and seemed useable. Upon opening it, however, I notice that the lip (top with handle, hinges and latch) felt loose. The 9 (nine) holes for the 3 (three) hinges (see photos) were stripped. I tried to tighten one hinge and realized the holes were stripped beyond help and decided to not damage the chest further by trying the other 2 (two) hinges. The drawers are contructed mostly of low quality particle board and do not glide in and out smoothly. They get stuck on the particle board glides located on either side. The front board that covers the drawers (which doesn't have the felt as shown in the display photo) doesn't fit snugly and jams easily because it turns sideways. This is not a great bargain. I will spend the extra cash for a better quality chest and return this damaged on arrival one.

I bought two for Christmas, one was beautiful, works well. The other is poorly put together. Drawers won't pull out. Latches were hanging by one screw. I contacted seller to return for replacement. They want me to pay for return... this is a wood chest, it's heavy. $45 by ups. That's half the price! I ordered in Nov to open Dec 25th. 30 days past while while they refused to talk to me. Now I'm stuck with expensive firewood!

It arrived irreparably broken in multiple places and the box showed no signs of damage. It was clearly a poor manufacturing job. I found the exact same chest at my local hardware store for less and similar defects were found on multiple items. I had to search through multiple boxes to find one that wasn't broken. Besides this major issue the box is actually really beautiful. The beauty of the piece made its broken condition that much more aggrivating.

Seems the major complaint is it arrives damaged and mine was no exception. If you purchase this item you better have wood glue, clamps and screws standing by. Or be ready to ship it back. Lucky I have wood working experience and I could repair mine rather than return it.
It's cheaply built so don't expect a treasure, the exact same chest is sold by Harbor Freight for $79 +/- and with a discount coupon is much cheaper.
Returns are easier at Harbor Freight too.
It's ok for light tools and stuff storage, not made for anything heavy.

I have two of these now. I bought the first one for watch repair tools, and I was too cheap to buy the Gerstner version. This has all the charm and style of the expensive chests, but much less expensive. The build quality is just fine, drawers don't stick, nothing warped, the drawer felt is flat and no bubbles or folds. These drawers can be taken all the way out, which I like because some of my tools are tiny and it's nice to get that drawer close up to see into. Two drawers are divided, very nice touch. Slight odor (probably the finish) that fades after a day. I liked this so much I bought a second one for my desk to hold pens, tape, etc. All the little things that clutter up a desk. Again, the drawers can be taken out, which I love to help me find that blasted little cord to connect my phone. So this may not be an heirloom chest, but I didn't spend the inheritance on it either. Did I mention it looks GREAT on my desk?

I purchased this tool chest to centralize all my gun cleaning/smith materials and small parts. I was very pleased when it arrived. It is an excellent tool box with a great finish and metal corner protectors. It is heavy which tells me that the dense wood should last. The drawers are all lined. The two top drawers come with lateral dividers that are perfect for separating small parts and pieces. As you can see in the pictures, I have put a lot of things in the box without crowding. When I am cleaning or working on my firearm, I have everything at arms reach. I wish I had done this long ago.

I bought two of these beautiful chests for my twin grandsons on their 18th birthday. I then put a jackknife in each one, another small camping knife in each. One grandson collects coins, so I put a few from our collection in his. The other grandson collects stamps, so I purchased a few collectable stamps and put them in his. Each item was in a different drawer. The knives were from papas collection. This showed them that they could use these chests for many different reasons. They loved that they locked making them very personal. Having to buy two at once made the price very fair for these items. Delivery came right away and packed good. Craftmanship was beautiful inside and out. This was a very special gift they can have the rest of their lives. Papa has had one for over 50 years and it's just like new. my initial impressions about the chest were good. It was relatively inexpensive and seemed useable. After owning it for a few months, however, I notice that the wood is beginning to warp. A crack has developed in the top piece and the top latches won't fully close anymore. The drawers don't glide in and out but get stuck on the glides going in. The front board that covers the drawers doesn't fit snugly now and gets jammed easily because it turns sideways. Yeah,not such a great bargain. I'll probably end up buying one of the more expensive chests now and eventualy have to toss this one when it won't open and close anymore.
